FlexZone

Point-Locating Fiber Optic Intrusion Detection System

Annotation 2020-07-28 121316.jpg

FlexZone detects and locates any attempt to cut, climb or otherwise break through the fence. It accurately locates intrusions even when there are multiple simultaneous intrusions and in the presence of background environmental noise.

How It Works

Using signals generated by the minute flexing of its loose tube coaxial sensor cable, FlexZone detects and locates movement of the fence. High-speed sampling along with location data ensures that the FlexZone processor captures a precise picture of the fence signal and enables advanced algorithms to discriminate between intrusion signals and distributed environmental noise. This maximizes the probability of detection while virtually eliminating nuisance alarms caused by environmental effects such as wind or rain.

Detection Capabilities

  • Detects and locates perimeter intrusions over distances of up to 600 m (1,968 ft) per processor

  • Pinpoints intrusions with ±3 m (±10 ft) accuracy

  • Flexible, software-based zoning (up to 60 distinct zones per processor)

  • Accurately detects and locates multiple simultaneous intrusion

Detection Capabilities

  • Accurately locates intrusions even when there are multiple simultaneous intrusions and in the presence of background environmental noise

  • Differentiates between point disturbances caused by real intrusions and spatially distributed disturbances such as wind and rain

  • Continues protection even in the event of a cable cut

  • Affordable for sites of all sizes

FlexZone Features

Enhance Your Existing Fence

FlexZone works with chain-link, standard welded mesh, expanded metal mesh and palisade fences. On barbed wire, concertina or areas where the sensor cable may be subject to damage, armored sensor cable is available. FlexZone may also be used on non-standard fence types and interior and exterior walls. With per-meter sensitivity leveling, FlexZone can easily be adapted to changes in fence construction and response characteristics.

Environmentally Derived Adaptive Processing Technology (EDAPT)

Senstar’s EDAPT mitigates the effects of wind and heavy rain. Using its precision ranging capability, FlexZone accounts for the background environmental noise level in the vicinity of a disturbance before declaring an alarm. Implemented on each processor, EDAPT reduces nuisance alarms in both networked and non-networked processors.

Reduced Infrastructure Costs

The sensor cable can carry both power and data, which greatly reduces power distribution and data communication cable requirements. The sensor can be configured in software to support up to 60 distinct, individually sized detection zones. Zones enable a single sensor cable to be used across areas with different operational requirements (e.g. high-traffic areas like gates or entrances).

Common Platform

FlexZone uses the same configuration and integration software as other Senstar products, reducing training requirements while increasing operational efficiencies. The device is configured and calibrated with easy-to-use Windows®-based software over a USB or network connection. Alarms, control, and status information is managed by the Network Manager software, which provides a common unified interface for Senstar’s video and security management software as well as other industry-leading third-party systems.

Simple Installation

FlexZone sensor cable is attached directly to the fence fabric with UV-resistant cable ties. The processor unit is outdoor-rated and can be mounted on a fence post or other surface. Most perimeters can be done in a day.

Networking and Integration

With on-board relay outputs, auxiliary inputs, and support for Ethernet, RS-422 and fiber optic communication cards, FlexZone can work with virtually any security system.

Gate Protection

FlexZone sensor cable can be installed on swinging gates to provide detection, and the gate area itself can be configured as an independent detection zone. Gate latches can be monitored via FlexZone’s on-board auxiliary input. Sliding gates are typically protected with Senstar’s Wireless Gate Sensor or UltraWave microwave sensor.

Deployment Diagram

FlexZone typically communicates with the security system via an Ethernet, RS-422 or fiber optic interface. The communications network may be shared with other Senstar sensors to reduce infrastructure requirements. Integrations using output relays are also supported.
